Some words on why inclusion matters to us
We live in a time of deep polarisation and growing precarity.
The polycrisis accelerates, economic inequality widens and vulnerable minorities are silenced and targetted by those in power. No wonder the fabric of our collective wellbeing in the UK is fraying. Mind’s 2024 ‘Big Mental Health Report’ highlighted rising loneliness and worsening mental health. From Early Years to Universities, our education systems are built to prize data over depth, distancing learners from their own curiosity, from each other and from the natural world we all must protect.
It’s time to step outside and learn differently.
At dot dot dot, we believe that the solution to our learning crises lie in the collective. We are committed to actively turning towards difference, to champion diverse perspectives and take accountability of our own privileges and prejudices. We are committed to radical inclusion, creating pathways to participation for everyone regardless of identity, background, ability, belief, and experience.
We strive to listen deeply, speak honestly, and hold power with care, recognising that liberation, justice, and belonging are practices, not ideals.
We commit to continual reflection, including on how our methods, language, culture, and leadership might favour some and silence others, and we commit to adapting in response.
But here’s the rub…
Deep learning requires a container of safety – to be open, curious and celebrated for making mistakes. This is critical to overcoming the cycles of shame and oppression many have experienced in school and beyond. It’s also why we have clear guidelines around ethics; so that language and behaviour is inclusive and supportive of our individual growth and our collective healing.
